Euromeeting success story!

The 18th of May saw 4 German guests arrive in Hornchurch for a weekend of Hornchurch Round Table events. Kurt, Petra, Andrea and Ottmar stayed at various members' houses and enjoyed a great weekend of events:

Friday night saw us meet at the Tower Arms pub in Brentwood for a petanque tournament, won by Andrea from Sigmaringen and Emma Appleby. Several beers and bottles of wine later, our guests were returned to their respective hosts, ready for a busy Saturday.

After a bit of breakfast, we jumped in the minibus (plus several cars) and went to Paper Mill Lock in Little Baddow for a relaxing narrowboat trip along the Chelmer Canal. After negotiating several locks and a generous buffet (with a bar to provide a nice cold beer) we enjoyed some home-made cakes and headed back to Hornchurch. Our guests took themselves on a mini-tour of Hornchurch before watching a dreary FA Cup Final.

Saturday night was a big one, when 175 of our friends piled into the Hornchurch Bowls Club for a School Disco Party. Costumes ranged from a Caretaker to some sexy schoolgirl outfits! There was a tuck shop, blackboards with some dodgy graffiti and a Headmaster with a cane! The PE-Teacher/DJ kept everyone on their toes!
